Developing transportation choices that work for people.
Traffic jams and gridlock used to be rare in the Rogue Valley. Not anymore. At more and more intersections and onramps, we’re burning up gasoline and patience without even moving. That won’t change by spending hundreds of millions of dollars on new pavement, and it won’t change without developing new alternatives. County government can:
- Promote smart public transit strategies that work well for other counties our size
- Encourage businesses to adopt practices that reduce employees’ commuting miles
- Encourage non-profit programs like car-pool exchanges and car-shares
- Join the regional campaign for rail service along I-5
