Standing up for our children and expanding opportunities for young adults.
We have a wealth of non-profit and volunteer programs to help children. Small increases in financial support could be great investments, reducing much larger costs in juvenile justice, mental health, public safety and incarceration down the line (examples).
And for decades we’ve talked about creating opportunities that would let our children choose to settle and prosper here. If we mean that, it’s time to make strong support of RCC, the Job Council, the Small Business Development Center a top priority, and to help industrious, responsible young people find needed capital to start or expand businesses.
This is just some of what county government can do to help build a better community. In all of these examples, the question is not “How can county government take over?” or “What big new government program can we start?” The question is always “How can county government help what you’re doing?”
